What are we wearing this summer

Hi!! Ok so a I want to give you a little bit of a back story before we get into this blog. In March, I wrote an article called ‘What are you Wearing this Summer?' and I talked about the predicted summer trends. Well, since it is now officially summer, I wanted to update this article to see if I was right with the predictions I made. To preface, I want to say I am doing this research as I am writing this article. I wanted to write this article in two parts- one with just the background or the summary of the first 'What are you Wearing this Summer?' article and the second part being the updated research (the accurate trends).

Background

- I wanted to tell you the predicted trends I talked about and researched in the first article. So, first we have MINI MINI SKIRTS. This was mainly going to be a big trend on the runway, but I have to say I have seen lots of minis in street fashion!

- Next, I wrote about MONOCHROMATIC looks! If you don't know what that means, just check out pretty much any of my other blogs, I write about it a lot. In part one, I said monochromatic looks will be worn with minimal jewelry, and I have to say, I don't see many of those in streetwear but especially on the runway!

- Next, was STRIPES! And I think I have grown in my knowledge of fashion over the past few months, and I can now say stripes are pretty much out of everyone's closets these days!! But, like I said at the beginning, I haven't done my updated research, so I could be wrong.

- Then, we have LOW RISE JEANS. Personally, I'm not a huge fan, but they seem to be popular.

Lastly, I wrote about SKIN. Showing skin is always going to be a trend (which I have learned over time), so I don't think I am going to do an updated research paragraph on this one.

After the Research

I love doing research about something that interests me because I get to learn new things that I wouldn't have known otherwise!

But anyway, let's get started with the real reason you are here!

- MINI MINI SKIRTS - are definitely still in style!! Micro-mini skirts have been a big trend for a while, but this summer they take a turn with the bold prints! I think people always have interesting ideas when styling really fancy, dressy minis with very causal tops!

- MONOCHROMATIC - aren't as in style as I thought they were going to be. One of the main monochromatic looks that has been very popular is white. Other bright colors have been thrown in a little, but other than that, not a very super popular trend!

- STRIPES - I have to say, I was partially right when I said that I don't think stripes are in anyone's closet this summer. There have been lots of men who are wearing stripes this year (even though I think men always wear stripes - button ups, dress pants, etc.)!

- LOW RISE JEANS - are most definitely back in style! They are ALL OVER street fashion!!! Mostly loose fitting, low rise jeans with a flashy cropped top. By flashy, I mean bright colors, wild fabrics, and designs.

Unpredicted

I think it would be pretty cool if I could say that I predicted all of the summer 22 trends, but I definitely missed some! I wanted to go through and talk about some of the trends I didn't see coming!

- VINTAGE - General vintage clothing has been in style for a while, but recently very fancy vintage clothing has had a comeback. For example, wedding dresses have been leaning closer to the old school, vintage look rather than the modern look. Another example would be the textures and patterned tops. Lots of minimalist floral and neutral tones.

- SPARKLES - This one definitely shocked me! Of course people would wear sparkles at night, going out, or for a special occasion, BUT these sparkles are being called Daytime Sparkles. I'm not too sure if I can hop on this trend yet.

- HEAD SCARVES - This one is my most favorite trends ever because I love scarves!! You can just read any of my accessory blogs! This trend has specially been silk scarves, with lots of bright colors and patterns!

Always remember that you look good in what you believe you look good in. It doesn't matter what other people say about you or your outfit. Your clothes don't make you who you are!!!
