Fall Fashion
I felt a breeze, so you know what that means!!! It's finally fall! Even though it is mid-October, I can finally feel the inspiration to write a fall fashion 101 blog! Yay! Fall is the very best season and no one can tell me otherwise.
Fall, especially in Arkansas, can be pretty tricky when it comes to finding a cute outfit. One day could be 40 degrees in the morning and 90 degrees by noon, or you can see a constant 50 degrees and wind all day long. So, it can be pretty difficult to find a cute and functional outfit. In this blog, my goal is to give some tips and tricks and maybe even a little bit of inspo to get your fall fashion up to speed! Let's do it!
My Ride or Die
Let's start off strong! I know you've probably seen it this fall, but the FRYE boots with shorts and an oversized shirt or jacket is a STAPLE for me this fall. I'll insert a picture below to show you a visual, but let me explain why I love this outfit so much!
1 If it's cold enough to wear boots, you can wear tall socks to keep the bottom half of your legs warm.
2 Wearing shorts will allow you to feel the cool breeze and not get too hot with long pants.
3 wearing an oversized shirt with a jacket allows you to take your jacket off if you get too hot. But if you are wearing a sweater, you can easily fold the sleeves up or down based on the weather.
This outfit can be so versatile and is such a good example of the perfect fall outfit! This is your reminder to never forget to accessorize.
Barn Jackets!
I've been noticing these more and more and I love this trend! A barn jacket is mostly colored denim, maybe brown, black, or blue that is fairly structured with lots of pockets. These are perfect for fall weather because they are light enough to not get too hot but also big enough to layer with. They are such a fun accessory that is super easy to just throw on. In the picture below, I styled this barn jacket in a little bit of a different way. I wore this outfit to a country concert so I wanted to be able showcase the jacket in a fun way. I wore shorts and a long sweater with an oversized button up underneath. With the jacket over it, it was easy to make it the main focus of the outfit. Also, of course, I had to wear the Frye boots (from Amazon!!!) with this outfit! This was such a fun outfit and I loved layering the jacket so I was still warm, even though I was wearing shorts.
Patterns!
It's finally time for some fun patterns! I know in the summer, the typical pattern is stripes, or simply color blocking. Mixing and matching colors to form a fun colorful outfit! But since it's finally fall, the fun patterns get to come out! Lots of polka dots, leopard print, and zebra print have been allllll around lately. I've even included a dress that I got recently! This is a very busy pattern and I love it for fall!! I love getting to see how people mix all sorts of patterns that wouldn't typically go together. Polka dots AND leopard print? Together? Sounds crazy right? But I love it! I love it all! I know a lot of people struggle with patterns because it can be intimidating to style sometimes. But I want to encourage you to just try! Just try to mix and match fun patterns and see how it turns out!
Accessories!
Since it is finally time to break out the sweaters again, it's time to accessorize. This is a prime time to use all of the blank canvas (the sweater and jeans) you have to your advantage. Layer those necklaces, tie those scarves, and stack up the bracelets. Any and all accessories are good accessories. Keep it simple and classy but also don't be afraid to trust yourself and try something new! There has been a new accessory on the scene. It's the scarf necklace with charms! If you know me, or even if you don't and you're just a reader, this is something that I'm obsessed with. I would love to see one that is interchangeable. One that you can switch the color of the scarf or the charms or both. This would be the ultimate simple yet fun accessory.
Denim
Denim is typically not seasonal! Denim can be worn at any point throughout the year- that's why it is so awesome and universal and simply the best- but why not try to spice up your denim for the fall season. There are so many different types of colors and styles and fits of denim pants that everyone can find their perfect pair of jeans. BUT I'm not necessarily talking about jeans, I'm talking about denim in other parts of the outfit. Denim shirts and jackets are PERFECT for fall. I always love a good Canadian Tuxedo (a full denim fit, mixed colors and styles) and these are definitely in style this fall!
This has taken me like three weeks to write (yikes) because of how busy the fall season is! BUT by putting some staple pieces into your closet, you won't have to worry about what to wear!
