Colors!
I touched on colors in my last blog, but I love colors so much that I wanted to write a whole blog about it. I absolutely love all colors and trying to make them coordinate with each other.
First, I want to talk about what colors DO NOT match (according to me) under most circumstances.
- ORANGE & PINK
For me, this is just too many bright, vibrant colors to look at in one fit.
- GREEN & PURPLE
I don’t think anyone can argue that this just gives Halloween vibes. I love a good holiday look, but not during the wrong season.
- NAVY & BLACK
I talked about this in the last blog, but I can not wear these two together. There is too many dark colors that are similar, but not the exact same color.
- YELLOW & WHITE
This is really just a ME rule but I really think that white and light yellow do NOT go together. It’s like the rule with the navy and black but opposite. Instead of the colors being too dark, they are too light.
THE COLOR WHEEL
Let’s go back to about the 1st grade when we learned about the whole color wheel!
Now, with the colors of your clothes and the colors on the color wheel, there are many rules. What colors can you wear and it still look good? Now, remember that simple is always better. The more colors in one fit, the more distracting your clothes get. But back to what colors go with each other. Based on the color wheel, colors that are directly across from each other match almost all of the time. Same with the colors that are directly beside each other.
NUMBER OF COLORS
I feel like there is an unspoken rule about how many colors you can have in one fit. The most is normally THREE colors in one fit. The easiest is one color - monochromatic. Meaning, you wear the same color shirt, pants, and shoes. Neutral colors always work. Black is best, in my opinion, for a simple fit that can easily be dressed up. Wearing two colors is next. When wearing two colors, one should be a neutral color, and the other should be a non-neutral. White and a non-neutral of your choice makes for a good fit. And last is three colors. Three colors are always more difficult to pull off. When looking at an outfit, it is always best to keep it simple with the colors. Two neutrals and a non-neutral always look best when trying to pull off three colors. Which doesn‘t mean if you have a shirt with multiple colors, you can’t wear it. It means you can wear a total of three different articles of clothing that are different colors. For example, a red shirt, blue jeans, and a black jacket. That would be the most colors in one fit. If you don’t wear a jacket, you should count your shoes.
If you chose to wear less than three colors, which is wanted, two colors look best. You can always switch it up by wearing different colored jeans/pants. If you really want to wear a black shirt with an army green jacket, you can chose to wear black jeans. If you don’t have black jeans right now, go to the store and get some!! Black jeans are a major staple in the fashion world!!
I absolutely LOVED writing this blog. Thank you so much for reading! I really appreciate you!
Always remember that you look good in what you believe you look good in. It doesn't matter what other people say about you or your outfit. Your clothes don't make you who you are!!!
with love always, Charli
