Be Inspired, Not a Copy Cat
YAY! Posting my first blog was so exciting. I'm having so much fun doing this. Just know that the topics will change frequently, so if you aren't interested in one subject, be sure to come back for the next one because it will be different! Today, let's talk about the major differences between being inspired and just being a copy cat.
Getting Inspired
Getting inspired can be so much fun! That feeling of being motivated and knowing exactly what you want to do is so exciting. That is one of my favorite feelings in the world (hence this blog)! Seeing how other people live their life and seeing how much I love their style should inspire me to be myself. I shouldn't want to be exactly like them because there is already one of them on this earth, there doesn't need to be two. So when I feel like I am trying to be too much like someone else, I have to find ways for me to be inspired and add my own flare, instead of me being a copy cat of them. I have a couple of tips and tricks for this.
PINTEREST! Pinterest is my favorite app to get inspired. There are so many different clothing ideas out there that you can steal! But you have to remember to put your own spin on it. Don't try to find the exact same pieces of clothing they have on in the picture. I also love Pinterest because it doesn't show the number of likes or save numbers. So you aren't tempted to see what other people liked and copy those ideas. You find what YOU like and you can save it and not worry about whether or not another outfit has more likes.
GOING BACK TO OLD WAYS! I have found that when I feel uninspired, I can go back to my old styles or a specific outfit and get inspiration from that. It's not always about the hot new trend or new clothes. You can go back to the clothes you used to wear that you think are out of style now. You can make up new outfits that match the trends now but with the twist of an old shirt or an old pair of jeans.
GO CRAZY! You don't have to follow what other people think is cute. You can find a fit that you may have never seen before. Pair things that have never been paired before. You may have started a new trend. Remember you don't have to copy people to feel inspired.
Being a Copy Cat
I touched on this a little bit already but I think it needs it's own section. I know we've all been a little bit of a copy cat at some point. Copying someone isn't always a bad thing (if what they are doing is good!). Just don't try to copy someone to be just like them - you are not them! You are you and that's who you are supposed to be! Don't try to be like someone else when you are just as cool, if not cooler! Moral of the story is don't try to be someone you aren't. Get inspired and motivated instead!!
Always remember that you look good in what you believe you look good in. It doesn't matter what other people say about you or your outfit. Your clothes don't make you who you are!!!
with love always, Charli
